Our Vision & Mission
Vision
A child’s first years in education are pivotal in contributing to their holistic development and we take seriously our privileged position in working alongside parents and carers to ensure that our children grow spiritually and academically, according to God’s plan for them. Our vision is that each child leaves our school at the end of their primary education knowing that they are loved unconditionally as a unique individual and with a strong sense of self-worth. We will prepare them to take the next step in education and into a diverse and ever-changing world with a willingness to use their God-given talents in service of others and to act as guardians of creation for the next generation. Every child in our school will follow the example set by our Patron, St. Joseph, by working hard, trusting God and serving others.
Mission
In order to achieve our vision, we will:
- provide a holistic and well-planned curriculum, inclusive for all, which will:
- allow children to develop the skills and knowledge needed to achieve academic excellence;
- teach children how to keep themselves and others safe;
- ensure that children are fulfilled and have the opportunity to identify their God-given talents so “that they may have life, and have it to the full” John 10:10;
- broaden children’s learning beyond their own experiences, so that through their words and actions they can fulfil Jesus’ commandment: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
- embed Catholic Social Teaching (CST) throughout all that we do so that:
- staff and pupil interactions are underpinned by CST;
- we put our faith into action;
- the vulnerable are prioritised.
Our school community has chosen to have a particular emphasis on solidarity, common good and preferential option for the disadvantaged.
- ensure that Gospel values underpin all of school life by:
- making strong links to these throughout our curriculum;
- referencing them when supporting children in making right choices;
- allowing them to guide us in policy and decision-making;
- acting upon them to guide and support our children.
Our school community has chosen to have a particular emphasis on kindness, courage and peace.
- ensuring high-quality, daily prayer and worship which:
- allows each individual child and staff member to develop their relationship with God, their faith and their spirituality;
- shares the Gospel with our school community and teaches them how to live this out in their actions;
- provide solace in times of challenge and joy in times of celebration.
- provide our children with many opportunities to:
- serve our parish and wider community;
- actively work to protect God’s creation;
- have a voice and know that it is heard and has an impact.
Our Motto
Like St. Joseph, we work hard, trust God and serve others.
